Airstrips:
Flinders Island Aviation owns and operates 2 airstrips situated at Bridport and Lady Barron.
Bridport is situated in the North East of Tasmania on Anderson Bay and is strategically placed to service the Islands of the Furneaux group. Our strip is aligned 10/28 and is a gravel strip of 1,000 metres in length. Right hand circuits are required when using runway 28.
Prior permission to land is required and landing and overnight parking charges apply. The CTAF frequency is 126.7 There is a parking area with tiedowns situated at the western end of runway 28. Visiting aircraft are not permitted past the culvert.
The strip is well utilised by Interstate golfers who come to play the world class Barnbougle Links course.
The strip is adjacent to a grass strip owned and operated by Roger and Wendy McLennan call sign the "Flying Teapot" and is a popular fly in for sport and ultralight aircraft. It is aligned 09/27 Radio calls on 126.7 are required to ascertain if there are other aircraft operating at either location.
Downwind for Runway 10 Bridport
Lady Barron is a grass airstrip and has 2 runways aligned 15/33 which is 1,000 metres long and 10/28 which is 550 metres long. We are within 1 mile of another strip situated to the North call sign "Lady Barron gravel." Care must be exercised to ensure that no conflict occurs with aircraft operating into and out of this strip. Right hand circuits are required for runways 15 and 10.The CTAF frequency is 127.8 for both Lady Barron strips and the main Flinders Island airport situated at Whitemark.
There are power lines at right angles to the short final approach when operating into runway 28. This runway should only be utilised when there is a westerly blowing in excess of 25 knots. Runway 10 must never be used for takeoffs. In all other cases runway 15/33 should be utilised.
